The notorious jams in Dubai may finally get fixed due to Elon Musk’s announcement of a significant underground transportation project.
In the most crowded parts of the city, Elon Musk will work with the Roads and Transport Authority and the Dubai Government to build the “Dubai Loop.”
Dubai Loop
In order to eventually develop into Dubai Loop, a next-generation subterranean transportation system throughout the Emirate, the first Dubai Loop pilot will include 11 stations, a 17-kilometer tube, and the capacity to carry over 20,000 passengers per hour.
Through this partnership, the deployment of cutting-edge, sustainable technology to safely and effectively transport people via The Boring Company’s tried-and-true Loop system—which has already carried over two million passengers throughout Las Vegas, USA since 2021—will be investigated.
With 104 stations and 110 kilometers of tunnel planned, the Vegas Loop is presently undergoing construction and will eventually carry over 90,000 passengers per hour throughout the system.
During the World Government Summit in Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, the Deputy Prime Minister, the Minister of Defense, and the Chairman of the Executive Council were present for a signing ceremony.
James Fitzgerald, Global Head of Business Development, and John Hering, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Vy Capital, The Boring Company’s Lead Investor and Senior Advisor, were present on behalf of The Boring Company.
Major hubs around Dubai will be connected by the Dubai Loop System. The purpose of this project is to:
Shorten Travel Times: The Loop could reduce travel times between important locations in Dubai to just minutes, with possible top speeds of 100 mph.
Boost Capacity: The final, extended system will be able to accommodate over 100,000 passengers per hour, offering a high-capacity answer to the demands of urban transportation.
Encourage Sustainability: By using electric cars in a regulated setting, the system will support Dubai’s aspirational sustainability objectives and be in line with the Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050.
